I have been known to splash out on a premium branded foundation or two (review of Mac Studio Sculpt seen here), but most of the time I enjoy trying out and testing high street ones - particular favourites, among others, include Maybelline's Dream Satin Liquid for its great blend and finish and Revlon's ColorStay for its (albeit slightly heavy-feeling) staying power. What trumps them all, however, is when you come across a premium quality foundation with a high street price tag, which is what I found with Vichy's Dermablend Correction Foundation.
I usually lean towards a full coverage base for daytime, as I've found they have longer staying power, especially as my skin tends to form a not-so-nice sheen as the day wears on. Imagine my delight when I came across this baby! I only discovered it recently through one of my favourite beauty blogs at the moment Vivianna Does Makeup (link can be found on my blogroll on the right). I knew Vichy did a skin care range, but was unaware of its foundation-producing skills. Well, apparently it's a little hidden gem! It ticks all my required boxes. And, with a price tag of £15.50 from Boots, you can't go wrong. Oh, and did I mention it contains SPF20?
What makes this foundation that extra bit special is that for those of you who have skin irregularities and who are prone to frequent blemishes, it helps to make them appear concealed while being kind to your skin. Also be aware that a little goes along way, as I realised on my first application when I applied the amount I usually would with a regular foundation.
NB. I've found I prefer to blend the majority of Dermablend with my fingers, but then finish with a foundation brush (seen here).

I see derma blend brands but sometimes I don't know if that's a different brand than the Vichy derma blend. Do you know?
ReplyDeleteHi Jessica, thanks for your comment. I think what you are referring to is Dermablend Professional, a brand dedicated to problem skins. I think this is where is gets confusing... Vichy Laboratories on the other hand is a skin care brand that also has a range of make-up called Dermablend, again aimed for those with problem skins in particular. Basically, Dermablend Professional is a brand, whereas Vichy's Dermablend is a range. So to answer to your question from what I've found, yes, they are different. Really hope that made sense! xo
