Cheryl Cole – hair chameleon

So it seems Cheryl Cole's hair has been getting the VIP treatment of late - firstly she opted for a blonde bob after the whole X Factor hoopla, then not so long ago she was spotted looking every bit the blonde bombshell with long locks for a friend's birthday. And just as we were getting used to that, there's a revert back to brunette for her latest video. Is that all? No, actually. Don't forget the recent stunning Marie Claire cover shoot, where she's back to mid-length blonde highlights. Phew... oh! and then to dip-dye ends for her latest Stylist shoot.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a hair stylist with you at the drop of hat who knows exactly what style will make you look hot, or hotter, or just suit you in general.. Because let's face it, albeit the brunette style in her latest video is a teeny bit OTT, she looks pretty damn hot in each style/colour.

Celebrity-inspired hair...

Ever get that 'urgh' feeling about your hair? Well, I'm having one of those days/weeks/months. Since uni (a scarily six years ago), I've had a long, brunette, layered look. Boring, right? So I've recently been after some hair inspiration, whether it's maintaining my colour but adding lighter pieces or opting for a different shade, or going for a radical cut (by radical, obviously I mean shoulder length) or lighter hue.

Here are a few celebrity manes that I'm currently crushing on...

Eva Longoria's hair always looks super glossy... and I love the lighter pieces at the front, giving it texture. And seeing this picture really makes me want to master rollers!
Kate Middleton – another brunette beauty.
I've questioned recently whether long hair is a bit young and girly for my almost 27 years but, after seeing these recent pictures,  I'm inclined to keep the length but try and opt for different ways to style. Which in Kate's case, means I may have dust off the tongs that haven't seen the light of day since I bought them and lost patience with them like five years ago...

Ah, Cheryl Cole.
I have a love/hate relationship with Chezza's locks. I hate that she looks amazing whatever the colour or style (ok, let's forget the early GA days of dreadlocks and scraped-back chav styles).  But I love that it's interesting to see what she'll have done next. Suppose that's a bonus of being a L'OrĂ©al girl – different hair colours on tap done by a pro. This would look great for summer; perhaps only if I was Cheryl Cole.

Jessica Alba is my guilty pleasure.
Not only do I love seeing pictures of Jessica and her gorgeous little family out and about, but I also love to see how she's wearing her hair and what she's wearing – from family days at the park to glamourous occasions such as Paris Fashion Week. I like the length of Jessica's hair here – mid-length but also long enough to create different looks. Her lighter hue is also a contender.

The Oscars 2012: The best hair & makeup looks

How annoying that the biggest awards of the year are on TV too late for us UK folk to watch? Well, in my opinion - massively. But hey, at least there's the internet. So here goes... my top five beauty looks from the red carpet at this year's Academy Awards...

1. Michelle Williams

 2. Rooney Mara

3. Natalie Portman

4. Angelina Jolie

5. Kate Beckinsale

LFW: The beauty trends

The bold lip was huge at this season's London Fashion Week, where it could be seen on the catwalks of PPQ, House of Holland, Issa and Nicole Farhi to name but a few – and probably explains the popularity of it at the Grammys.

But two of my other favourite trends came in the form of hair and nails, where it was all about
side-parting up-do's...

Acne
David Koma
Paul Smith
Matthew Williamson
Daks

And then it was nails – of the dark, metallic kind...

Maria Grachvogel
Zoe Jordan
Holly Fulton
Paul Smith
Issa

It can be annoying when spotting catwalk looks and finding they're not reeeally appropriate to transfer to "real life", but these two trends will be easily wearable – from day to day as well as day to evening.

What were you favourite looks of LFW?

Yes or No?.... Rihanna goes blonde

Well, seeing as though the world seems to stop when it snows, leading to my friend having to cancel her birthday plans due to taxi firms not taking any bookings, there's only one thing for it - a night of Take Me Out, Jonathan Ross (thank God for you, Mr Beckham) and blogging!

This post is dedicated to a popstress you may not have heard of. And you may not have seen her latest hair transformation as she's hardly ever in the press...

Oh, wait...

So is it a Yes or a No then? I'm still undecided... but then again, it's Rihanna - she can pull anything off, right? Is it a wig?

Christmas beauty wishlist

So, Christmas is 19 days away today, or 16 if you're going by how many doors are left to open on my advent calendar... After countless hours browsing the net looking for potential gift ideas, my list is finally complete. Once I know what I'm getting, however, I much prefer to do my Christmas shopping manually rather than electronically (unless, of course, there is just a too-good-to-miss offer online).

While selflessly shopping for my nearest and dearest, I couldn't help but notice a few little goodies that I wouldn't be too unhappy about if they just happened to make their way under my tree...

1. Nars Pure Matte lipstick in Madere, £18.50, for a long-lasting, natural pout.

Elemis Japanese Camellia Oil, £27 plus free delivery, is the infamous oil recommended by Victoria Beckham for super silky, luscious skin. Light oil is my go-to body luxury at the moment as opposed to creams.

Love Heart tea lights, £6 for a set of six, will look adorable on my dressing table while pampering for festive nights out.

Xen Tan Dark Lotion, 236ml, £29.50 plus free delivery, is the tan-of-the moment, recommended by beauty bloggers the world over.

Moroccan Oil treatment for all hair types, £30.45 for 100ml plus free delivery. One of my aims in life is to get super glossy locks ala Nicole Scherzinger, and this will put me on the right path.
Jo Malone Vanilla & Anise home candle, £38 - pure bliss.

Girls Aloud for Eylure Kimberley lashes, £5.19, for a touch of glam on NYE.

What's on your wishlist this Christmas?

Cheryl lightens up

So I'm sure you're all aware how it emerged on Twitter yesterday that Cheryl Cole was spotted with a new blonde do. I wasn't particularly surprised as she's forever changing her hair. Although, when the pictures finally surfaced (apparently there was a long bidding war), I decided it's not my favourite look she's ever tried, but it does suit her.

Well, I think that's all that can be said on the matter...! Except that it's not the first time Cheryl's tried the lighter look either. Remember these?...
